I work where the cases are.
I qualified in medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo and spent 2020 and 2021 as a general practitioner in the national health service. From 2022 to 2025 I coordinated malaria focus management for IREM in Pedernales - the operational work of finding transmission and closing it.
That means strengthening the operational structure of the malaria programme at the local level: the strategies and instruments that let a team manage foci with active transmission, week after week, until there are none.

- Coordinated and planned malaria case detection, diagnosis, investigation, and response activities (PAHO/WHO DTIR strategy), ensuring timely notification through the CECOVEZ and SINAVE subsystems with high standards of timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.
- Developed and updated operational micro-plans for malaria elimination in foci, monitoring progress, quality, and results in order to propose and implement adjustments based on epidemiological, surveillance, and control indicators.
- Led analysis of epidemiological and operational data and indicators to support timely decision-making aimed at eliminating malaria transmission at the municipal level.
- Trained and supervised health personnel and the community collaborator network at the regional, provincial, and local levels, ensuring compliance with the technical quality standards established in the norms.
- Coordinated intersectoral negotiations and prepared monthly progress reports, managing the availability of equipment, supplies, and diagnostic and treatment materials to ensure programmatic activities were carried out.
